18 Months!

Yes my baby is a year and a half now! At his latest Dr. appt he weighed in at 25 lbs and 33 inches. I was concerned at first thinking maybe he hasn't gained enough weight in the last few months (he was 22 lbs at his 1 yr appt) but thankfully I have lots of very wise mommy friends who explained to me that babies slow down their weight gain as they get older because they are more active, thus burning more calories. Well that's for sure with this guy! He's always on the go. This is him "dancing" before the Dr came in. Obviously he did not know shots were involved in advance or he might not have been in such a good mood! Current cute things he's doing: he likes to tell YOU what to do. For instance, when we get in the car and I start to drive, if he doesn't like the song on the radio, he points to the radio and says "No"...real calm and simple like. So of course I change the station...then he listens a minute and says "Noo" again, accompanied by a head shake...usually by the 3rd or 4th song he settles in his carseat to listen and bop his head to the music. It's hilarious to witness. I mean who knew he had taste in music already right? Oh and he does the same thing with the television. These days we really are only allowed to watch 4 programs; Seseame Street, The Wiggles, Supernanny, and Dancing with the Stars. I tried introducing some new shows like Jack's Music Show (because personally I find Mel the dog to be very cute), Yo Gabba Gabba, and Thomas the Train, but all I get is "No" and if I don't change the channel fast enough to something he likes, well it's melt down city of course! Little creature of habit I tell ya! BTW, fun fact I recently read, toddlers "melt down" every 20 minutes! YES! At last proof that my child is NORMAL! LOL! Some pics of him "driving": Changing the radio station himself of course! In addition to acquiring a taste for certain genra's of music and television, he also will only eat certain foods. At the moment any kind of berry is a hit usually, followed by pepper jack cheese (it has to be the brand Tilbrook or it's a no go), dark cherry yogurt, rice, and beans. So we have just about every food group covered but vegtables (wait... are beans a veggie??? I've been counting that as a "protien" since getting him to eat meat is very difficult) so I usually cut up tiny pieces of carrot or green beans and "hide" them in rice. I can get maybe 3 spoonfuls in before my baby Einstien gets my drift and starts eating the rice and spitting the veggies out. He also is totally into fedding himself these days, none of this mama spooning feeding me stuff for this guy! He likes to take me by the hand and walk me around, showing me what he's looking at and coaxing me to play. When he sits down with a book or a toy and then pats the seat next to him...I don't think I have or could ever resist, it's that sweet. Speaking of books my baby is oh so cliche and he likes the book "Good Night Moon"...seriously that author must be raking it in...it's a silly little book with no real concept and yet he loves it as does every other kid in America right? We read it at least 7 times a sitting to him.

Every morning he wakes up the first thing he does is sign for "daddy". Every morning I say "Daddy went to work"...the second thing he signs for is "eat" :). He can now say "banana", "butt", "bye bye" and "hi".... I just love hearing his voice! It's so cute, take a listen for yourself!

Happy 18 months my love! You make this thing called life, worth going through!!
