And the envelope please.....

Finally my numbers are in!!!!!!!!!!
HCG=458
Estradol=218
Progesterone=31.3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo Hoo! I was so anxious all day!

(for those of you lucky enough not to have to know what these numbers mean, just know they're good :)

Let me tell you this story, so I called this morning and left the nurse a msg asking for my test results. I called again this afternoon and left 2 msgs, this time one for the nurse and one for the nurse practitioner. By 4:00pm still no call back! I call Nathanael with my "I'm about to have a nervous breakdown" voice and asked him if he'd call the nurse. So he does. Guess what? He gets through right away!!! I was like "WTF? How did you do that?" he laughs, tells me not to worry about it. I guess having a penis has it's perks, in most circumstances I'd be livid but in this case,whatever, he got my numbers! After he talked to the nurse she called me (all of this was happening while I was driving home from work) She explained she was going to call in my lovenox (yes! injections in my stomach...my idea of a good time) to the pharmacy. I had to let her know I was taking some Longs prenatal pills and did she want me to take some "real" ones. She said yes so she added that to the order. I asked her if I should keep up the progesterone suppositories and she said no that my progesterone was good. Then she called back 2 min later and said the Dr does want me on progesterone and estrace as well. So then I started asking questions about the elevated NKC result I had last month. So she tells me to hold on and on comes the Dr! I was so surprised! He basically explained to me that he could do the IVIG transfusion (this is the tx for elevated NKC) on me but that it is very controversial and is a "grey area" of their practice. He explained that the reason why it's not widely used and it is not FDA approved is because studies have shown you can take 500 women with 3-4 m/c's (like me) and then you can take 500 women with 3-4 live births and you will get the same % of each group come out with an "abnormal" number of NKC's. So he told me, like he always does, that he'll do it for me if I want it but he doesn't really feel it will increase my odds. I love the guy but he is such a pass the buck mother f-er when it comes to taking responsibility for his patient's protocol! (Hence the name of my blog!) It's like heeeeelllooo, I thought YOU were the one who went to medical school! Anyway, tangent there, back to the issue at hand. He went on to tell me at this place that I'm in, with a 4th pg and the uterine cavity being "fixed" now he says my chances of carrying to term are 50/50 and he feels this is good odds. (isn't playing black on roulette considered 50/50 chances as well...hmm I always loose at that game...) Then Mr. "obsessed that all the problems lied with the septum I had" (conveniently "forgetting" that I have 2 other underlying conditions at work here) says that before the surgeries he'd put me more at 15 % to carry to term.

So I decided against the IVIG infusions. I came to this decision figuring that taking something the FDA has not approved probably isn't the best idea for the unborn plus knowing there are no real benefits medically documented on the IVIG infusions, and taking into account that I did have the immunoglobin panel come back in normal range (seeee...thank you google for MY MD degree) I have opted "just"to take baby asprin, lovenox injections, folgard, estrace 3 times a day, prenatal vitamins and progesterone suppositories 3 times a day.

I drove the 60 miles to the only specialty pharmacy in SoCal to get all these drugs. Can't crack heads get their fix at the nearest corner? I'm just saying...

$200 later I have my "keep the baby in place" magic combo.

I go in for another blood draw Monday. I also have an appt w/my OB on Monday as well. Here's to the next 6 days flying by!!

p.s. Thanks again God.

Thanks for the add Norina! Will they monitor your progesterone in addition to the hcg? I'm sure you are 2 steps ahead of me, but just in case, make sure they check it EVERY time. Lots of love from one of your biggest cheerleaders!!!
