This bowl is BPA free...but that bowl looked more practical and it was by the same brand however, it doesn't say "BPA free" on the packaging so is it? These bowls looked good but they were pink and a boy can't eat out of pink bowls, I decided.... And then this spoon turned colors when the food was too hot, but these spoons were easier for little hands to hold...
After 30 minutes of weighing pros and cons, and Nathanael getting restless in the aisle, I finally made the decision I thought best. In addition to picking out the "perfect" feeding tools I also got this bug up my butt that since I only want to give Zech the "best" I should make my own baby food...none of this preservative ridden crap for MY baby. So I looked up how to make organic rice cereal. To my delight I found that the recipe was quite easy. I bought the organic BROWN rice (because we all know brown rice is more nutritious then white rice) and a coffee grinder. I ground the rice into a fine powder, cooked it over the stove with bottle water and added breast milk.... it was the PERFECT first food for my little man. I even taste tested it myself because come on...if I can't eat it why would I make my child eat it??? Yup that's right, I tasted my own breast milk LOL! The whole concoction reminded me of cream of wheat so I thought it was actually pretty good.
It was time. The event we had been waiting for for months. We got Zech all set up. Here's the before rice cereal shot:

And this is his AFTER rice cereal experience:

That's right, he HATED it. Poor thing started gagging the minute it hit his tongue! Then he started crying and shaking his head back and forth really fast, as if to say "NOOOO! Stop it mom, WTF is this???!!!"
All my slaving away for nothing?! Can you believe it?! This is soo what I get for trying to be healthy granola mom, which clearly I fail miserably at.
So guess where my ass is going tomorrow???? That's right to the local grocery store to buy the preservative ridden crap that alll the other mother's in America feed their children LOL!Stay tuned for an update...something tells me he's gonna like it better then mommy's whack creation :)

LOL! That is hilarious! Poor Zechy, he's been waiting so long for the taste of "real food"!
That is so funny! The pictures really tell the story! You definitely get an A for effort for making the cereal on your own. Can't wait to hear if he likes the store brand!
That's too funny! At least your rice cereal looked edible from what you described. The first and only time I made it, it looked horrible but I still fed it to Reese. She, of course, hated it and I never fed it to her again. Sounds like you found something that works...enjoy the rest of the solid food adventures!
