This June we mastered potty training! Oh the joy! So many people asked me "how'd you do it?" to which I respond, "I didn't do anything"...after reading lots of potty training tips and books out there what I found most effective was letting him do it at his pace, in his time. I found trying to heavily suggest/make/force only resulted in frustration for us both and in the end appeared to hurt his self esteem more then get the act of using the potty down (I tried this once and realized, this was not my style of parenting so i stopped). One day he asked to go on his won...we did a sticker and candy for each time he initiated and went. And in a week's time voila, potty trained! He even is dry at night. So to celebrate this major success, we went out to Build a Bear and made our very own "Potty Bear"!
Picking out his bear...

Telling the build a bear worker why he was getting a special bear today!

Placing the bear's heart in...

Time for a bath!

Taking a spin around the store!

Registering the bear's name in the computer...

Introducing "Potty Bear!!" the bear who wears big boy chonies and nothing else! :)
